She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry and Jean Mixon; her brother Wayne Mixon; and her pets, Badger Glen and Old Noah.
She is survived by: her husband Michael Lee Nelson; her daughters, Amber Payne (Neal) of Shelby, NC and Leah Jordan (Chad) of Travelers Rest, SC; her grandchildren, Ethan, Bethany Payne, Logan Wright, Meyer and Gabe Jordan; her sister Dorothy Haddock (Guy) of Bluefield, KY; her nieces, Esther, Rachel, Sarah and Miriam; and her pet Lucy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Carpenter's Hands Ministry at Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville, North Carolina.
