He was predeceased by: his parents, Wade Houck and Susan Norris Houck; and his siblings, J. D. Houck, James Houck, Elmoe Houck, Edna Earle Storie and Bobbie Hicks.

He is survived by: his wife Donna Houck of Zionville; his sons, Robert Marvin "Robbie" Houck, Jr. of Charleston and Christopher Rutledge "Chris" Houck of Asheville; his grandchildren, Grace, Abigail, Christian and Sophie Houck; and his pet Buster. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
