He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Hicks and Spencer Hicks; his brother-in-law Martin Strickland; and his father-in-law Tommy Strickland. He is survived by: his wife Jill Strickland Hicks; his sons, Zachary (Lindsay), Austin (Margaret Wood) and Spencer; his sister DiAnn Murphy (Lloyd); his niece Denese Cornell (Chris); his great-niece Kathryn; and his great-nephew Ryan.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Zebulon Baptist Church (400 N Arendell Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597). Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 12:15 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens (809 W Gannon Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597). A reception was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Zebulon Baptist Church (400 N Arendell Ave, Zebulon, NC 27597).
