It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Clarence Simpson Jr. of Yanceyville, North Carolina, born in Beckley, West Virginia, who passed away on February 23, 2021, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Simpson, Sr. and Alice Pogue Simpson of Virginia; and his siblings, Hiawatha Simpson, Simon Gwynn Jr., James Johnson, Larry Gwynn, Mary "Mae" Gwynn and Edith Mae Vasser.
He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Watlington Simpson; his children, Glynis Poteat (Anthony) of Greensboro, Revenda Simpson of Yanceyville, Rodney Simpson (Blondell) of Yanceyville and Derrick Simpson (Kristan) of Yanceyville; his stepmother Louise Simpson of Durham; his siblings, Eddie Simpson of Yanceyville, Douglas Simpson of Yanceyville, Charleston Simpson of Yanceyville, James Simpson of Yanceyville, Zackery Simpson (Tammy) of Reidsville, Alice Redding of Pelham, Blondell Montgomery (Donald) of Rock Hill, Angela Simpson Hines (Roy) of Durham, Silvey Stokes of Morristown, Stephanie Simpson of Morristown, Cynthia Simpson of Morristown, Loretta Ramsey (Tom) of Greensboro and Dorothy G. Slade of Yanceyville; and his siblings-in-law, Stanley Watlington of Yanceyville, Valeria King (Leroy) of Pelham and Ruth Gwynn of Capitol Heights, MD. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Due to the constraints of public gatherings during the COVID-19 outbreak a viewing will be Friday, February 26, 2021 from 2 to 7 p. m. in the Juanita S. Fulton Memorial Chapel of Fulton-Walton Funeral Home with a limit of 10 people at a time. (Per CDC Guidelines: Facial Masks are required).
