He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Billie, Climon Wilkins and Ronald L. Matthews. He is survived by: his parents, David Lynn Matthews (Jan) and Angela Renee Dobbins Dorsey (Gary); his brother Shawn Matthews; and his grandmother Judy Matthews.

“To the family of stewart mathews, it breaks my heart i wasn’t able to make it to the funeral service. I’m deeply saddened by my cousins sudden death. Even though we weren’t around each other as much as adults. I considered him like my little brother considering i visited him mostly every summer as we were growing up... He was my little cousin who always laughed at my silliness and mischievous ways... I always looked forward to seeing him every summer. Please accept my condolences. Sam”
