He was predeceased by: his parents, Omar Porter and Evelyn Campbell Porter; and his siblings, Mary Dobson, Gray, Chester, William Ray and Larry Eugene Porter.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie Sue Payne Porter; his children, Clara Moser (Dennis), Melvin "Leon" Porter, Allen Porter (Sandy), Sharon Peace, Carol Hawkins, Janice Isome and Jackie Phinx; his grandchildren, Robin, Ricky, Natasha, David and Nakela; and his sister Martha Phillips. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Patterson Grove Faith Church Building Fund, 3432 Forbush Rd, East Bend, NC 27018.
