It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Ray Hamby of Yadkinville, North Carolina, born in Alamance, North Carolina, who passed away on May 5, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewitt Ray and Naomi Thompson Ray; her former husband James Darrell Whitesell; her husband James Daniel "Dan" Hamby; and her grandson Mark Colton Chappell.
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Wagoner (Larry), Tammy Chappell (Mark), Joyce Ann Skiles, Larry Dean Hamby (Penny) and Lynn Gabel (Steve); her grandchildren, Leslie Jordan (Jonathan), Chandler Chappell, Lanie Tucker (Blayden), Jessica Kidd (Anthony), Joshua Skiles (Leah), Stevie Forrister (Garrett), Justin Hamby (Macey), Mayson Foster and Hayden Foster; her great grandchildren, Lillian, Evelyn and Ava; and her sisters, Peggy Stout, Barbara "Aunt Bootsie" Martin and Rozelle Horne. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
