She was predeceased by: her parents, James Russell Roberts and Hallie Mae Yarboro Roberts; her husband Thad Carter; her siblings, Katherine Macemore, Betty Jean Evans and Bud Roberts; her half-brother Bobby Brooks; her son-in-law Wade Chappell; and her great grandchild Noah Lee Carter.
She is survived by: her children, Jimmy Carter (Glenda), Kenneth Carter (Jenny) and Norma Jean Chappell; her grandchildren, Bettina Miller (Dwayne), Darrell Carter (Isobel), Kendra Hennings (Britt), Andrea Stewart (Shane) and Skeet Lawrence (Leigh Ann); and her half-siblings, Linda Ray Spicer, Jackie Hobson (Ralph), Sue Andrews (Larry) and Sammy Brooks (Betty). She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and one step-great-great grandchild.
