She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred G. Walker and Bessie Smith Walker; her children, Harold Root Jr. and Sally Ann Hall; her siblings, Marilyn, Irene, Ann, Fredrick and George; and her husband Howard W. Root.
She is survived by: her daughter Susan Beamer of Yadkinville; and her sisters, Shirley Parker of Mississippi and Barb Riley of Homer, NY. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Yadkinville Cemetery (127 Cemetery St, Yadkinville, NC 27055).
In lieu of flowers Mrs. Root's request was memorials be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 125 Tompkins St., Cortland, NY, or Virgil United Methodist Church, Cortland, NY.
