He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Joyner and Lula Mae Wells Joyner; his former wife Ann Joyner; and his granddaughter Maggie Elizabeth Ransom. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Joyner; his children, Jennifer Ransom (Jimmy), Tonya Brown, Jeff Wallace (Kelli) and Todd Wallace (Dottie); his grandchildren, Colby Ransom (Clara), Wake Ransom (Jessica), Kerri Blevins, Trace Brown, Caleb Wallace (Savannah), Claire Wallace, Maggie Poole (Robert) and McKenzie Barneycastle; and his siblings, Dean Joyner (Vickie) and Lou Ann Reavis (Bill). He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
