He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Clifford Lofthus and Phyllis Preiss Lofthus; his mother-in-law Bobbie A. Shanks; his brother Donald C. Lofthus, Jr.; his cousin Larry F. Preiss; and his son-in-law Brock E. Beagle.
He is survived by: his wife Katherine Shanks Lofthus; his daughters, Carrie Lofthus Mincey, Katherine Kent Lofthus, Laura Rose Lofthus and Caroline Ruth Lofthus; his son-in-law Charles Jacob "C. J." Mincey; and his grandchildren, Carper Rose Mincey and Charles Fletcher Mincey, II.
