It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David Mayo of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, who passed away on March 24, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, George Edward Mayo Jr. and Susie Mae Whitley Mayo; and his brother Dr. George Mayo III. He is survived by: his sister Mary Sue Beamon (Kenneth Dwain Beamon) of Tarboro; his sister-in-law Becky Mayo of Goldsboro; and his nieces and nephews, Margaret-Ann Mayo, Susie Beamon Magill, Dr. Virginia Mayo Buckman, Ken Beamon, Anthony Beamon and George Mayo IV.

All in attendance, are asked to please wear a mask and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Kidney Fund at https://www.kidneyfund.org The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.

“What a remarkable man. I only knew David from almost daily encounters walking over to the beach for the sunrise or riding his bike early in the AM. We developed a comfortable nod, then engaged in good conversation. I feel the loss every time I walk past his house and to the beach. My condolences to the family and many friends.
