He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Franklin and Iona Blalock Canupp; his wife Clara Elizabeth "Libby" Canupp; and his sons, John Calvin Canupp and Gerald Leroy "Kippy" Canupp, Jr..
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Billy Joe Myers (Christie) of Woodleaf, Mark Carlisle Myers (Kim) of Mocksville, Tina Myers Gray of Woodleaf and Linn Myers Waggoner (Mark) of Salisbury; his children, Michael Franklin Canupp of Knoxville, TN and Donna Catherine Canupp of Marstown, TN; his grandchildren, James Gray, Katie Feamster (Tab), Luke Waggoner, Lacy Waggoner, Loren Myers, Mackenzie Myers (Jesse Bickford), Bo Canupp, Justin Jones, Joshua Canupp, Rachel Canupp, Mikayla Canupp, Pepper Canupp and Madison Canupp; his great grandchildren, Cole Bickford, Chase Canupp, Rowan Canupp and Jet Canupp; his sisters, Marlene Benson of Little River, SC, Linda Lou Martin of Woodleaf and Mona Jo Griffin (David) of Cooleemee; his siblings-in-law, Brenda Swink of Salisbury, June Harkey of Woodleaf and Luther Harkey of Salisbury; and also March. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Somerset Court of Mocksville or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
