He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Leatherman and Sarah Reep Leatherman; and his siblings, G. S. "Bud" Leatherman, Paul Leatherman, Hellen, Nell, Bonnie and Willie.
He is survived by: his wife Ivadene Lawson Leatherman; his children, David Leatherman Jr. of Woodleaf, NC, Bobby Leatherman of Woodleaf, NC and Paula Leatherman of Traphill, NC; his grandchildren, Chelsea Leatherman, Michael Leatherman, Brittany Rackley, Abigail Leatherman and Bradley Brock; his great grandchildren, Lilyanna and Hunter; and his siblings, Annie Mayfield of Flemming Island, FL and Evan Dean Leatherman of Hollywood, FL. He is also survived by several friends and relatives.
