She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter W. Carter and Chloe McDaniel Carter; her husband Gerald Arney; and her sisters, Frances Carter Hoggard and Louise Carter Bland.
She is survived by: her son Tommy Chastain of Perry, FL; her niece Mary Lou Hoggard Brooks (Will) of Southern Shores, NC; and her nephews, James F. Hoggard (Rita) of Windsor, NC, Robert C. Hoggard (Lisa) of Merry Hill, NC, David W. Bland (Marianne) of Arlington, VA, W. Douglas Bland (Deirdre) of Advance, NC and H. Gilbert Bland (Carolyn) of Chesapeake, VA.. She is also survived by many cousins, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
