She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Powell and Caruth Wiggins. She is survived by: her sons, Joseph Barnes (Shelia) of Winton, NC, Melvin Barnes (Joyce) of Winton, NC and John Hardy (Sandra) of Murfreesboro, NC; and her sisters, Judy Peele (Roberta) of Ahoskie, NC and Betty Watkins (Sherman) of Paterson, NJ. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.
