He was predeceased by: his parents, T. A. Smith and Nina Murchison Smith; and his siblings, Barbara McPeak and Murchison Smith. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean "BJ" Smith; his sons, Gregory Scott Smith (Jerri) of Wake Forest, Jeffrey Thomas Smith (Amy) of Fayetteville and Brian Keith Smith (Laura) of Winterville; his grandchildren, Rebecca Lauren Smith of Greenville and Charles Smith (Carlee) of Winterville; his great grandchild Sawyer Annette Smith of Winterville; and his brother Milton Smith (Belinda) of Snellville, GA..
