It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nita Barnette Jernigan of Winterville, North Carolina, who passed away on April 9, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Claude Edison Barnette and Monnie Coppedge Barnette Bunch; and her siblings, Alice Richardson, Carroll and Bobby Barnette.
She is survived by: her children, Penny Wood (Keith) of Edenton, Julie Waldt (Greg) of Winterville, Marlene Barnette Edwards of Winterville, Dale Jernigan (Ashley) of Aulander and Tracy Jernigan of Winterville; and her siblings, Ellen Jones of Colerain, Sue Britt of Edenton, Claude Barnette of Pembroke and Melvin Barnette of Chocowinity. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
