He is survived by: his parents, Martha Cropp Gibbs and John Willard Gibbs, Jr.; his brother David Randolph Gibbs (Laura); his children, Jana Natalia Gibbs, Vladimirs Vasily Gibbs (Vova), Liepaja and Latvia; his niece Victoria Caroline Gibbs; and his nephew Scott Andrew Gibbs. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He graduated from the University of Virginia with honors in 1991, and the Medical College of Virginia in 1997, where he received his MD and PhD degrees as an MCV Foundation Scholar.
