It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Ward Saunders of Winterville, North Carolina, born in Portsmouth, Virginia, who passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Ward and Helen Ward; and her husband Donald Eugene Saunders. She is survived by: her daughter Angela "Angie" Byrne (Joe, Jr.) of Greenville; her grandchildren, Riley Byrne of Alabama, Delaney Byrne of Greenville, Joseph, Byrne III of Greenville, Honorary and Abby Cooper of Greenville; her nieces, Danette Roberts of Virginia, Sherri Lingg and Christine Gray of Stumpy Point; and her nephew Travis Ward of Holly Springs.
