He was predeceased by: his stepfather Russell Wheeler, Sr.; and his father Captain Frank Andrew Cox, Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Rebecca Swanner Cox; his wife Jerri Lynn Cox; his daughters, Bonnie Hoffman (Jason) of Philadelphia, PA and Tara Forehand (Chris) of Grifton, NC; his sisters, Gloria Forehand (Mack) of Edenton, NC and Jo Ann Wheeler (Jean) of New Bern, NC; and his grandchildren, Justin (Shakira) of Winter Park, FL, Andrew Hoffman of Philadelphia, PA, Hailey Forehand and Tyler Forehand of Grifton, NC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
