He was predeceased by: his parents, Bob Whitley and Ruby Whitley; and his son Daniel. He is survived by: his wife Annette Brown Whitley; his children, Amanda Joyner (Keith) of Farmville, Jessica Berry (Hank) of Scranton and Jonathan Whitley (Trisha); his grandchildren, Haley, Alton, Bo, Nolan, Nathan, Jacob, Wesley, Alex, Zoey, Hydie, Harper, Samuel, Ellie and Judah; his brother Tommy Whitley of Farmville; and his pets, Little Bit and Benson.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Farmville Funeral Home (4226 E Church St, Farmville, NC 27828). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
