She was predeceased by: her parents, Julian Elks and Mary Elks; her siblings, Charles Elks and Mary Strickland; and her husband James Conley McLawhorn.
She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Anne McLawhorn Reed (Patrick) of Chocowinity, NC, Kimberly Jaye McLawhorn Brown of Winterville, NC and Barbara Lee McLawhorn Carter of Mooresboro, NC; her sister Frances Owens of Richmond, VA; her grandchildren, Jamie Lee Rouse, Aaron Hinnant, Ashley Jenkins, Ryan Carter, Travis Brown, Cory Brown, Chelsie Brown, Amie Reed, Cody Carter, Danielle Carter and Kaci Carter; and her great grandchildren, Victoria Hinnant, John Jenkins, Owen Brown, Hudson Brown, Addelin Jenkins, Sydney Carter and Holden Jenkins.
