It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alva Wayne Worthington Sr. of Winterville, North Carolina, who passed away on May 28, 2022, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Augusta and Celia Smith Worthington; his wife Lois Dunn Worthington; and his siblings, Wardell, Linwood, Julian, Fred, Lucile W. Hahn, Irene W. Mayo, Pauline W. Yelverton and Elizabeth W. Dail.
He is survived by: his son A. Wayne Worthington, Jr. (Joni) of Raleigh; and his grandchildren, A. W. "Al" Worthington III (Amy) of Holly Springs and Mary Clarke Worthington of Cary. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
