He was predeceased by: his parents, Mabel Winfrey and Van Ray Poindexter, Sr.; his wife Bonnie Poindexter; his children, Robbie Poindexter and Cindy Poindexter Jones; and his brothers, Winfrey, Wilbur and Albert.
He is survived by: his daughter Patti (Brian Adderton); his grandsons, Patrick Jones, Ryan Jones, Matt Adderton and Blaine Adderton; his great grandchildren, River, Arlo Jones and Jonathan Adderton; his sister Marilyn P. Johnson (Barry); and his pet Deacon.
