She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest M. Byrd and Annie E. Byrd. She is survived by: her husband Duke; and her children, Michael Lyon (Annette), John Gregory Lyon (Robin), Donna Fowler, Shawn Martin (Hal), Tres Fowler (Terry), Shannon Johnson (Terry) and Sharee Fowler (John). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
To honor Sue's deep sense of community service and love of all creatures, the family requests that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care or the Forsyth Humane Society. Memorial donations may also be made to the First Baptist Church of Pilot Mountain.
