He is survived by: his son Dean W. Koonts of Seattle, WA; his grandchildren, Timm Koonts and Lisa-Marina Koonts; his siblings, Stan Koonts of Winston Salem and Betty Ross; and his daughter-in-law Annegret Koonts. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephew.
