He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Candler Vaughn, Sr. and Ellen Douglas Arthur Vaughn; his wife Carolyn Hartford; his brother Stuart F. Vaughn, Sr.; his siblings-in-law, Patricia H., Tom Keesee, Anne H. and Leon Zirkle; and his nephew Donald Zirkle.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia A. Vaughn (Tricia) of Winston-Salem and Robert C. Vaughn, III (Rob); his daughter-in-law Karen; his grandsons, Will and David Vaughn; his sister-in-law Frances Vaughn; his nieces and nephews, Stuart Vaughn (Liz), Doug Vaughn (Grey), Francie Vaughn Powers (Michael), Candler Vaughn Cox, Woody Keesee (Angela), Anne Keesee Niemann (Tom) and Franklin Zirkle (Kimberly); and his niece-in-law Leigh Anne Zirkle. He is also survived by 10 great-nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.
