She was predeceased by: her parents, Columbus Isaacs (C. W.) of Washington and Rosa Mae Loflin Isaacs; her husband Hal Edward Essick, Sr.; and her brothers, William, Robert and Thomas Alexander (T. A.).
She is survived by: her sons, Hal E. Jr. (Wendy) of Lexington, Joel R. (Carol) and Jeffrey D. (LeAnne) of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, Joshua (Paige), Zachary, Chadwick (Nicole), Emily, Kelly and Cara (Dillon); her great grandchildren, Payton, McKenzie, Braxton, Kendall, Henry and Owen; and her sister Ruth Gray Braden of Hamilton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
