He was predeceased by: his father Walter Ashburn; his wife Wilda Shouse Manuel; and his siblings, Roger Manuel, Bill Manuel, Roy Manuel, Dot Godwin, MaryLou Snow and Ellen Pierce.
He is survived by: his daughter Paulette Manuel Moon; his granddaughter Alison Moon Holder (Matt); his great grandchildren, Brittney Marie Brinson (Connor Paul), Cole and Troy Holder; and his brothers, Gene Manuel and Francis "Pappy" Manuel. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Becks Baptist Church and the cemetery fund, 5505 Becks Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
