He was predeceased by: his parent Rowan Shepherd; and his brother Russell Shepherd. He is survived by: his wife Helen Shepard Shepherd; his children, Steve Shepherd of Raleigh, NC and Karen Joyce (Mike) of Winston-Salem, NC; his granddaughters, Lynn Hill (Andy) of Cary, NC and Sara Joyce of Winston-Salem, NC; his great grandchildren, Kaitlynn Hill, Khloe Hill and Alex Hill; and his siblings, Floyd Shepherd, Blain Shepherd (Judy), Eva Blevins and Ruby Nance (Buck). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
