She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Mose Childress and Dinah Vester Hawks Childress; her sister Dinah Ruth Childress; her brother-in-law Donald P. Conner; and her children-in-law, Hajj Hussein Faraj and Charlene Hudson.

She is survived by: her children, Ivan Tate Jr., Joyce Ann Faraj, William Cecil Hudson, Patricia Lynn Faraj, Dwayne Dale Hudson and Lranda Gail Forrester; her sons-in-law, Chaouki Faraj and Sydney Forrester; her grandchildren, Mounerah (Dan), Samira (Hassan), Mounir, Ali, Mohamed, Hussein, Kadeja, Alexis, Atiyah (Trionn), Andre Jr. and Barry; her great grandchildren, Ishaan, Kishan, Trinity and Trionn Jr.; her grandchildren, Beth, Matthew, Brittany, Pam, Ashley, Marcelle, Amira, Nick, Jasmine, Kal, Samer, Kamel, Zahraa, Lama, Marwa and Zeinab; and her siblings, Jean C. Conner, Betty Bowman, Carl Childress, Jr., Edward Lee Childress, Garnett Sanders Childress, Clayton Gray Childress and Billy Ray Childress.
