She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Van and Emily Frances Howell; her son Philip Edward; and her son-in-law Roger Boles. She is survived by: her significant other Ryland F. Rock Jr.; and her children, David (Debbie) of King, NC, Michael (Linda) of Moore, SC, Pam Boles of Staunton, VA and Joy Hardee (Kevin) of Concord, NC. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the building fund of Grace Baptist Church.
