She was predeceased by: her parents, Nancy McLawhorn and Col. Marion Smith Lewis; and her husband Robert Griffith Prongay of Winston-Salem. She is survived by: her children, Peggy Slater (David) of Clemmons, NC, Ginger Hinman (Rob) of Lenoir, NC, Ruth Prongay (Bayley Wharton), Barbara Prongay of Winston-Salem and David Prongay (Christy) of Bermuda Run, NC; her grandchildren, Jenny Jones (Josh), Alex Slater (Katherine), Frazer Hinman (Travis) and Will Hinman; her great grandchildren, Eloise Jones, Asher, Micah Hinman and Frankie Slater; her sisters, Ann Austin of Cambridge, MA and Marion King of Lakewood, CO; her brother-in-law David Prongay of Bainbridge Island, WA; and her caregiver Lou. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (520 Summit St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Robert G. Prongay Key Club Scholarship c/o the Winston-Salem Foundation, or to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
