He was predeceased by: his parents, Calvin Smith and Dora Aust Godfrey; his wife Clara Harris Godfey; and his siblings, Mae Butt and Cecil Cruthers.
He is survived by: his children, Calvin Godfrey (Kathie) of West Virginia, Mark Godfrey of Winston-Salem, Alice Dunaway of Norfolk, VA, Brenda Allen (Glen) of Concord and Phyliss Deloucas (Carlos) of Tampa, FL; and his brothers, Tommy Godfrey (Judy) of Oregon, Charles Godfrey (Scarlette) of Charlotte and David Godfrey (Mert) of Charlotte. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.
