He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dr. Charles Hadley Stevens and Grace Truman Weaver Stevens; his siblings, Jean and Charlie; his children, John Holt Stevens Jr., Mary Elizabeth Stevens, Joyce Casey Stevens-Carnevale and Sarah Alice Stevens; his children-in-law, Beth Losey Stevens, Paul Cogswell Hart and Steve Louis Carnavale; his grandsons, John Holt Stevens III, Patrick Cogswell Hart, Steven Casey Hart, Bryce Stevens Carnevale and Casey Benjamin Carnevale; his great grandchild Rowan Wyatt Stevens; his wife Mary; his sister Grace Stevens Price; and also Lesa Kelly.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, a private memorial service will be held for the immediate family at Ardmore Baptist Church.
