He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dee Nichols, Sr. and Aileen Clasby Nichols. He is survived by: his close friend Jennifer Owings; his sister Jerrye Hayes (Kent) of Winston-Salem; his nephews, C. Mark Hayes (Dine Badri) of Washington, DC and Gregory A. Hayes of Shaker Heights, OH; his great-nephew Jay Owings of Winston-Salem; his great-niece Jada Weaver (Matthew) of Millers Creek; and his grandchildren, Jayanna and Maverick Weaver.
