It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jeannette Elizabeth Cherry May of Winston Salem, North Carolina, born in Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Jeannette Elizabeth Cherry may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Russell Thomas Cherry Jr. and Jewell Jones Cherry; and her sister Judith Lynn Cherry Smith (Scott Smith). She is survived by: her husband Commie Luther May III; her children, Russell Craig May (Rebecca Post-May) and Elizabeth Ann May (Martin Campbell); her grandchildren, Florence Cynthia May, Avery Finch May and Gavin Luther Campbell; and her brother Russell Thomas Cherry III (Besty Dean Cherry).

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Moravian Church (220 E Sprague St, Winston-Salem, NC 27127).
