He was predeceased by: his parents, James Nerse Winters and Crystal Tucker Winters; his wife Lura Ann Winters; his children, Elizabeth Ann Winters and Joseph Lee Winters; and his brothers, Steve Winters and Michael Moore.
He is survived by: his son James Garfield Winters (Lynn) of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Jessica Bicker (Neil) of New York, Sarah Winters of High Point, NC, Christina Winters of New York, Joshua Winters of Pennsylvania and David Winters (Kayla) of Ohio; and his sister Ann Moore of Winston-Salem. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Parklawn Memorial Park (2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27127).
