He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertha Hartness and Robert Hartness; his wife Frances P. Hartness; and his son Dave Hartness. He is survived by: his children, Dirk Hartness, Dee Hartness (Dan Doehler) and Dawn Hartness Orrell; the mother of his children Dianne Hartness Cook; his great grandchildren, Jase Orrell, Emory Orrell, Benjamin Orrell, Jayliana Bracken, Jaxin Sales, Maddox Shanks, Mavrick Shanks and Mason Shanks; and also, Binny Orrell, Jade Sales, Kennedy Orrell, Morgan Shanks, Ally Doehler and Jax Doehler.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Forsyth Humane Society, 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
