He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Smith and Treety Smith; his siblings, Curtis Smith, Robert Smith, Harvey "Jack" Smith, Helen Brown, Teeny Badgett, Victoria Sanders and Zelma Davis; his daughters, Meta Carolyn Gwyn, Jacqueline "Jackie" Sullivan, Eleanor Gail Hines and Melanie "Lanie" Bush; and his grandson Joshua McCree.
He is survived by: his children, Martinez Smith, LaVonne Smith, Dominique "Nikki" Gwyn, Cotisa Brown (Chris) and Timothy Gwyn (Natalie). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
