He was predeceased by: his parents, Holloway Smoot Jr. and Jannie Caldwell Smoot; his brother Minister Reginald Smoot; and his wife Myra Porter Smoot. He is survived by: his children, Dwight "DJ" Holland and Kalli Pettigrew of Atlanta, GA; his grandsons, Kwest Boxley, Kueben Boxley of Atlanta, GA and Khalil Rynes (Michala) of Greensboro, NC; his great grandchild Titan Rynes of Greensboro, NC; his siblings, Robbie Smoot, Renae Smoot, Frederick "Ricky" Smoot (DeHavia) of Virginia and Robert Smoot of West Virginia; his stepsons, Rico Porter and Charles Porter; his sisters-in-law, Minister LaVerne Smoot and Robin Pendleton of Delray Beach, FL; his stepgrandchildren, Devon Plater, Saharia Porter, Kedrick Gibson and Antwain Porter; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Antwain "AJ" Porter, Jr., Sa'Miyah Evans and Keyceon Gibson. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Much later in life, he worked at Sunoco Display and Packaging in Rural Hall for seven years before the onset of the pandemic which posed a health challenge.
