He was predeceased by: his father Leon McDowell; and his siblings, Edward McDowell and Karen Crotts. He is survived by: his sisters, Susan Asbury of Lexington and Miriam Epperson of Lexington; and his nieces and nephews, Donnie, Gina, Timmy, Mitchell and Jessica.

Memorials may be given to Community Baptist Building Fund.
