He was loved and cherished by many people including: his siblings, Timothy Bates, Jr., Ryan Bates, Michael Bates, Chris Wilson and Whitney Lanier (Alan); his parents, Timothy J. Bates, Sr. (Jennifer) and Janet Sourek Bates; his nephews, Wilson and James Lanier; his pet Lunchbox; and his fiancé Michael Buckland.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Daniel's memory to local LGBT+ charities such as Time Out Youth, as they were causes close to his heart.
