He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Lee Brim and Kathy Lynn Rakes; and his grandparents, Clarence Rakes and Juanita Rakes. He is survived by: his daughters, Cloey Overby and Amelia Brim; and his brother Phillip Shields (Danielle). He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
