She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Isaac Reed Berry (United Methodist Minister) and Emma Lucille Wells Berry; her sibling Lennie Berry Williams (John W.); her son-in-law Raymond McDonald; her nephews, John Langston Williams and Garrett Anderson Williams; and her friend Virginia Wiseman.
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Gaines McDonald of Wilmette, IL and Clarence Edward Gaines II (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Loran Gaines McDonald, Ryan Gaines McDonald, Olivia Rose Gaines and Garrett Christian Gaines; her godchildren, Dr. Caroline "Judy" Lattimore and Kevin Wallace (Susanna); her cousin Joyce Biles (Leon); and also, Billy Jones, Mary Jane Williams, Alice Ruth Rhodes, Tim, Vicky Grant, Sadie Daniels, Debbie Daniels and Gwendolyn Wallace. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be private due to COVID restrictions, but the service will be live streamed on February 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM on Russell Funeral Home's Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Clara B. Gaines to the Clarence E. Gaines Sr. Endowment Fund at Winston-Salem State University or Meals on Wheels.
