It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Ladd Freeman Sr. of Winston Salem, North Carolina, who passed away on March 25, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Charles had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Charles may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Percy Paul Freeman and Annie Lou Shouse Freeman; his son Harvie "Happy" Freeman; and his siblings, Paul Freeman, Jimmy Freeman, Byron Freeman and June Boggs.
He is survived by: his son Ladd; his great grandchildren, Sawyer Buchanan, Molly Buchanan, Grady Freeman and Banks Freeman; and his wife Dorothy Goddin Freeman. He is also survived by his daughter and his son; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren, as well as many dear nieces, nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ardmore Baptist Church (501 Miller St, Winston-Salem, NC 27103).
