He was predeceased by: his parents, George Bell and Muriel Bell; and his sister Patricia Bell. He is survived by: his wife Betty Lambert Bell; his daughters, Betsey Bell and Holly Gates (Tracy); and his grandchildren, Sydney Gates and Tyler Gates.
