He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Chatman and Lucy Chatman; his wife Barbara Washington Chatman; his siblings, Maggie Parker, Sarah Johnson, Elizabeth Ray, Willie Chatman and Rollie Saxon; and his children, Crystal Chatman, Geniece "GiGi" Chatman and Eric McCormick.
He is survived by: his sons, Garren Chatman (Kassandra) of New Jersey and Charles Chatman, Jr. of New York; his siblings, Dorothy Ray (John) of Lewisville, NC, Peggy Faust of Denmark, SC and Robert Chatman (Deloris) of Denmark, SC; his sisters-in-law, Alnetha Chatman of Branchville, SC and Carmen Saxon of Queens, NY; his former wife Jeanette Chatman of Brooklyn, NY; and his stepchildren, Tracey Washington and Tyson Washington of South Carolina. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
