He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold O'Dell and Mae Luffman Hester; his wife Linda Carter Hester; and his siblings, Donnie Hester and Carol Shore.
He is survived by: his children, Gina Renea Hester of Winston-Salem, Arnold Hester, Jr. (Destiny) of Whitsett and Jeffrey Hester (Cynthia) of Kernersville; his sister Tammy Waddell (Tim); and his grandchildren, Alisa Noah, Casandra Tucker, Brooke Taylor Hester, Jeff Todd Hester, Christopher Taylor, Caroline Hester, Preston Steve Hester and Clarence Martin. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
